CITY OF COLTON <br />METER TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE & METER TECHNICIAN (continued) <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the <br />following: <br />METER TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE <br />Assists Meter Technician in the installation, testing, programming, <br />and repair of electric and electronic meters and related devices. <br />METER TECHNICIAN <br />Tests, programs, repairs, and installs various types of commercial, <br />industrial, and residential electric and electronic meters with and <br />without instrument transformers. <br />Performs field and shop load surveys. <br />Maintains accurate records as required. <br />Analyzes electronic data through PC based software. <br />Performs related duties as required. <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />METER TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE <br />Knowledge of• <br />Basic tools and procedures used in electrical meter maintenance. <br />Safe work practices. <br />Ability to• <br />Learn to perform journey level meter maintenance work including <br />installing and disconnecting electric and electronic meters. <br />Learn City policies and procedures pertaining to utility services. <br />Make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately. <br />Understand and follow oral and written directions. <br />Maintain accurate and neat records. <br />Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those <br />contacted in the course of work. <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the <br />required knowledge and ability is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the <br />knowledge and ability would be: <br />Experience: One year of experience in electrical maintenance work <br />including making repairs to electric or electronic equipment is <br />desirable. <br />
