Hall, Fire Chief <br />SUBJECT: CONSIDER THE CONVERSION OF TWO Date: August 26, 1991 <br />FIREFIGHTER POSITIONS TO FIREFIGHTER SPECIALISTS (PARAMEDICS) <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In March of this year, as part of the discussions held between <br />myself and members of the Council, the decision was made to <br />provide paramedics at Station #3 in South Colton. This decision <br />was based on the desire of the Council as well as the report <br />submitted by former Fire Chief, ED TEMBY, in his survey conducted <br />between September 18, 1990 and January 25, 1991. <br />Adjustments in these funded positions are necessary to accomplish <br />this goal. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />At the present time the authorized breakdown of funded shift <br />personnel is as follows: <br />CAPTAINS <br />12 <br />ENGINEERS <br />12 <br />FIREFIGHTER SPECIALISTS <br />16 <br />FIREFIGHTERS <br />11 <br />TOTAL 51 <br />Under consideration is an adjustment in the number of Firefighter <br />and Firefighter Specialist positions. The new configuration <br />would be as follows: <br />CAPTAINS <br />12 <br />ENGINEERS <br />12 <br />FIREFIGHTER SPECIALISTS <br />18 <br />FIREFIGHTERS <br />9 <br />TOTAL 51 <br />The total number of shift personnel would remain the same and <br />would include manning Station #3 with paramedics. <br />Attachments: <br />Page 1 of 2 Item No. F <br />CENTRAL RECORDS <br />'FILE NO. 503..L ..................
