CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT (CONTINUED) <br />September 3 1991 <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF ' <br />SUBJECT: CONSIDER THE CONVERSION OF TWO FIREFIGHTER POSITIONS <br />TO FIREFIGHTER SPECIALISTS (PARAMEDICS) <br />No firefighters would have to be laid off to reduce the allotted <br />positions. At the present time two vacancies exist in the <br />firefighter rank. One is due to a move -up condition created by an <br />Acting Division Chief, with its trickle down effect; and the other <br />is due to the resignation of a firefighter on August 23, 1991. <br />FISCAL IMPACT• <br />The dif f erence in pay between the f iref ighter and f iref ighter <br />specialist is 10%, approximately $247.00 per position, along with <br />the additional, associated benefits. This amount has been included <br />in the preliminary FY 1991-92 budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION• <br />Upgrade two vacant firefighter positions to firefighter <br />specialists. <br />DH:ms <br />Page 2 of 2 Item No <br />
