I. EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY POLICY STATEMENT <br />A. It is a fundamental policy of the City of Colton to <br />provide equal opportunity to all its employees and <br />applicants for employment, and to assure that there shall <br />be absolutely no discrimination against any persons on <br />grounds of race, color, religion, age, national origin, <br />ancestry, physical disability or sex, except when sex is <br />a bona fide occupational qualification. This obligation <br />extends to all areas of employment including, but not <br />necessarily limited to, the following: <br />Recruitment <br />Selection and placement (job assignments) <br />Promotion and transfer <br />Disciplinary measures <br />Demotions, layoffs, and terminations <br />Daily working conditions <br />Testing and training (where applicable) <br />Awards, compensations, and benefits <br />B. The importance of fulfilling this policy is given top <br />priority consideration in the day-to-day operations of <br />the City of Colton. All of our employees have been aware <br />that any violation of the letter or spirit of this policy <br />by any employee shall result in appropriate disciplinary <br />action, including discharge if warranted. <br />C. This policy is consistent with the provisions and <br />objectives of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, with <br />implementation accomplished in accordance with specifics <br />defined in the City of colton's Affirmative Action Plan. <br />D. Responsibility for the development, implementation, and <br />maintenance of procedures in accordance with the equal <br />employment opportunity policy is assigned to the City <br />Manager. The City Manager or his designated <br />representative will conduct periodic reviews of Colton's <br />personnel actions to ensure that the City's policy on <br />Equal Employment Opportunity is being followed. <br />II. DISSEMINATION OF CITY POLICY <br />A. Colton's Equal Employment Opportunity Policy Statement is <br />posted in conspicuous place on City premises: City Hall, <br />Police Department, Fire Station #1, Fire Station #2, Fire <br />Station #3, Fire Station #4, Electric Office, Electric <br />Substation, Library, Service Yards #1, Service Yards #2, <br />Cemetery and Community Centers. <br />B.
