Hutton, Director of Public Works <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Funding Agreement with CALTRANS and Date: January 29, 1992 <br />SANBAG for the Washington St., Hunts Ln., Reche <br />Canvon Rd. FAU Project <br />TATO rMEW1,1I0I1M <br />The City of Colton competed for Federal and Urban Funds for a major traffic signal <br />and road rehabilitation project at the intersection of Washington St., Hunts Ln. and <br />Reche Canyon Rd, and Reche Canyon Rd. south to the City limits. <br />The City was successful in obtaining approval of the project, number one on the priority <br />list, funds were not available to proceed with the project because of cost overruns <br />on a City of San Bernardino project, and loans made to CALTRANS for the Route 30 Freeway <br />extension. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />After several months of negotiations, SANBAG approved advancing project funds from <br />Measure I monies to allow the project to proceed, with a stipulation that the City <br />of Colton would repay the Measure I monies from future transportation funds, such as <br />FAU, special gas tax allocations for major projects or other transportation funds that <br />may become available in the future to the City. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The project is being funded by FAU, through Measure I funds, and there will be no <br />financial impact to the City. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recon -mends that Council adopt the attached Resolution approving the funding <br />agreement with CALTRANS and SANBAG for the Washington St. (Barton Rd.), Hunts Ln. and <br />Reche Canyon Rd.
