CITY OF COLTON <br />Fire Captain <br />Page 2 <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (continued) <br />Prepare all reports, forms, recommendations, and other required <br />administrative procedures of the company, such as supply requisitions. <br />Work with other management and supervisory staff to maintain, revise, <br />and improve upon the operations of the department. <br />Prepare performance evaluations for subordinate personnel. <br />Make budget recommendations; and participate in the budget <br />administration. <br />May conduct studies and/or supervise studies of new districts, <br />buildings, streets, hydrants, sprinkler systems, etc. <br />Participate in public education programs. <br />May be required to make presentations in schools, service clubs or <br />other public gatherings, on fire and burn prevention. <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of• <br />Principles, practices, procedures of modern firefighting and <br />protection of lives and property. <br />Rules, regulations and operational procedures of the Fire <br />Department. <br />sound principles and practices of personnel deployment, <br />supervision, evaluation, employee development and training. <br />Fire apparatus, equipment, tools, devices, facilities, and their <br />proper utilization and maintenance requirements. <br />Advanced first aid and CPR. <br />Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation. <br />Local geography, including the location of water mains and <br />hydrants and the major fire hazards of the City. <br />Ability to• <br />Make sound decisions and direct fire personnel at the scene of an <br />alarm. <br />Plan, organize and coordinate the work of subordinate personnel; <br />supervise, train and evaluate entry and journey level fire <br />personnel. <br />Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. <br />
