CITY OF COLTON <br />Fire Captain <br />Page 3 <br />Effectively interpret rules and regulations and make decisions in <br />accordance with them. <br />Conduct preliminary fact finding inspections and investigations, <br />including evidence gathering and presentation. <br />Operate apparatus and equipment used in modern firefighting <br />activities. <br />Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with <br />superiors, peers and subordinates. <br />Experience and Training <br />Any combination of experience and training that would likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A <br />typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Experience• <br />Five years of municipal fire suppression experience including <br />certification as Fire Engineer. <br />Training: <br />Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented <br />by additional specialized training in fire science. Highly <br />desirable achievements include completion of the course <br />requirements or equivalent, for State of California Certified <br />Fire Officer. <br />License or Certificate <br />Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid <br />California driver's license. <br />Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid EMT and <br />CPR certification. <br />Possession of a City of Colton Certified Acting Captain <br />Certificate. <br />Approved By Council: <br />JD2:FIRECAPT <br />
