CITY OF COLTON <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES <br />SPECIFICATIONS FOR STEEL REFUSE CONTAINER <br />A. GENERAL: <br />These specifications cover the City of Colton's requirements <br />for fabricated steel refuse containers; standard pitch top <br />front loader type. Sizes ranging from 2 to 4 cubic yard <br />loading capacity. Exhibit "A" (attached) states the dimen- <br />sions of each container size. Each bidder shall fill in the <br />required data on the bidder's proposal form herein. <br />All material used in the construction of these containers <br />shall be new. Steel shall be grade ASTM -A36 of prime quality. <br />Secondary steel is not acceptable. All container panels shall <br />be constructed of full size sheet steel. Spliced or pieced <br />panel construction is not acceptable. <br />Workmanship: <br />oonst—ruction and finish shall be of the highest quality industry, <br />standards. <br />Deviation or Alternate's to Bid Specification: <br />The City of Colton reserves the right to require a sample, <br />completed container to be submitted at suppliers expense to <br />examine the quality of merchandise offered prior to bid award. <br />Container Details: <br />Container Body - The front, rear and sides of the container <br />bin body shall be constructed of not less than 14ga high <br />strength sheet steel. The bottom shall be constructed of 12ga <br />high strength sheet steel. Front, rear and bottom panels shall <br />be provided with 2 - 1" deep V type 72" long vertical ribs for <br />panel reinforcing. Four cubic yard container bottoms shall <br />have 3 - ribs to provide additional strength. The top perimeter <br />of the container body shall be reinforced with 1.511x3" - 12ga <br />channel banding. The inside bottom of the containers shall be <br />solid welded and 12" up in each corner. A 1 1/2" drain coupling <br />and plastic plug shall be installed in the right end panel at <br />the bottom, centered. <br />Container Lids: <br />Each container shall be provided with a pair of tight fitting <br />reinforced lids, hinged at rear of the container banding. <br />These lids shall be fabricated of not less than 16ga hot rolled <br />sheet steel, cross paneled and 2 lid braces each lid. Lid <br />hardware complete consisting of lid rod, nuts, lid ears and <br />lid holder. All 4 cu. yd. bins to have fiberglass lids with <br />all hardware included. <br />
