CITY OF COLTON DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES SPECIFICATIONS FOR STEEL REFUSE CONTAINER A. GENERAL: These specifications cover the City of Colton's requirements for fabricated steel refuse containers; standard pitch top front loader type. Sizes ranging from 2 to 4 cubic yard loading capacity. Exhibit "A" (attached) states the dimen- sions of each container size. Each bidder shall fill in the required data on the bidder's proposal form herein. All material used in the construction of these containers shall be new. Steel shall be grade ASTM -A36 of prime quality. Secondary steel is not acceptable. All container panels shall be constructed of full size sheet steel. Spliced or pieced panel construction is not acceptable. Workmanship: oonst—ruction and finish shall be of the highest quality industry, standards. Deviation or Alternate's to Bid Specification: The City of Colton reserves the right to require a sample, completed container to be submitted at suppliers expense to examine the quality of merchandise offered prior to bid award. Container Details: Container Body - The front, rear and sides of the container bin body shall be constructed of not less than 14ga high strength sheet steel. The bottom shall be constructed of 12ga high strength sheet steel. Front, rear and bottom panels shall be provided with 2 - 1" deep V type 72" long vertical ribs for panel reinforcing. Four cubic yard container bottoms shall have 3 - ribs to provide additional strength. The top perimeter of the container body shall be reinforced with 1.511x3" - 12ga channel banding. The inside bottom of the containers shall be solid welded and 12" up in each corner. A 1 1/2" drain coupling and plastic plug shall be installed in the right end panel at the bottom, centered. Container Lids: Each container shall be provided with a pair of tight fitting reinforced lids, hinged at rear of the container banding. These lids shall be fabricated of not less than 16ga hot rolled sheet steel, cross paneled and 2 lid braces each lid. Lid hardware complete consisting of lid rod, nuts, lid ears and lid holder. All 4 cu. yd. bins to have fiberglass lids with all hardware included.
