CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT (CONTINUED)
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF October 26, 1992
SUBJECT: Award of the Installation of the Final Phase of the Water Telemetry
Contract to Ellis Electric (Sole Source) in the Amount of $198,277.00
DISCUSSION CONTINUED:
On October 5, 1992 Ellis Electric submitted a proposal for the final phase of
the water telemetry project in the amount of $195,852.00 with options for the
Mojave Booster Station RTU in the amount of $13,068.00, and installation of
antennas at five sites in the amount of $2,425.00/ea. for a total of $12,125.00.
The total cost of the options is $25,193.00, and the total cost of the proposal,
with options is $221,045.00.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The FY92-93 budget has $200,000.00 budgeted for the final phase of the water
telemetry system.
1-0x0i, 85i02107,VVi EWILN
Staff recommends that Council,
1) Make the following findings:
A. Approve Ellis Electric as sole supplier of
unique product and services necessary to the
expansion of the City's telemetry system.
B. If another contractor were allowed to perform work,
the warranty on the previously completed work will
be voided.
C. No public purpose would be served by awarding a new
contract for this phase of the telemetry system
expansion project, and entering into the public bidding
process would, therefore, be an unnecessary and costly
action of no value to the City; and,
2) Award the final phase of the installation of the water telemetry
system to Ellis Electric in the amount of $195,852.00 for the
installation of equipment and $2,425.00 for one antenna for a
total contract price of $198,277.00.
/lj
CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENC .
2 2
Page —of Item No —___
