TO: HONORABLE MAYOR_ and CITY COUNCIL
• - - - • '. i . .
-. ...r:
Development Director
SUBJECT: Priority List of the 193-1994 Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) Projects, Per Cooperating Cities
Agreement with San Bernardino County.
BACKGROUND:
At the City Council meeting of February 16, 1993, Council set the Public Hearing, for the
prioritization of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) project proposals, to the
meeting of March 2, 1993, then continuing the item to this meeting. Colton will be allocated
$280,300.00 in CDBG funds from the San Bernardino County Department of Economic
and Community Development (ECD), per Colton's Cooperating Cities Agreement with the
County. Of the total amount, a minimum of 10% of the allocation ($28,030.00) must be
withheld for Contingency funds, leaving $252,270.00 (maximum) for the City to budget for
the 1993-1994 Fiscal Year.
The following list of projects have been reviewed and approved, by the County's Depart-
ment of Economic and Community Development, as eleigible for Community Development
Block Grant funding. The County has also reminded us that no more than 15% of our
allocation ($42,045.00) may be used for Social Service programs. Taking the allocation
constraint into consideration, and in reviewing the proposed projects, Staff makes the
following recommendations for Community Development Block Grant funding:
REQUESTED RECOMMENDED
PROJECT AMOUNT AMOUNT
1. Contingency Fund $50,000.00 $50,000.00
2. Graffiti Eradication (Social Service) $79,345.00 $14,015.00 *
3. Senior Outreach Program (Social Service) $24,660.00 $14,015.00 *
4.
