CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of April 5, 1994
TO: Honorable Mayor, City Council, and City Manager
FROM: Gale A. Drews, Electric Utility Director Date: 3/23/94
SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION REVISING ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT
CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICY NUMBER 25 RELATING TO
COMMERCIAL LIGHTING REBATE PROGRAM
BACKGROUND
Customer Service Policy Number 25, approved by City Council on January 3, 1991, established a
commercial lighting rebate program. The program is designed to provide commercial customers
with financial incentives to replace existing indoor lighting with more energy efficient lighting. The
customer benefits by having lower electric bills and the Colton electric system benefits by reducing
on -peak electric demand.
Staff has reviewed the program and is recommending changes to program rules included in Policy
Number 25 in order to encourage customers to participate. The following changes are
recommended:
1. Increase rebate amounts from $112 per kilowatt reduced to $200 per kilowatt reduced
for eligible indoor lighting measures.
2. Increase the maximum rebate per customer allowed in any one year from $3,000 to
$5,000.
3. Minor procedural changes.
The program remains cost-effective for the Electric Utility with these changes.
Staff recommended changes to Customer Service Policy Number 25 were reviewed and approved
by the Utilities Commission on March 14, 1994.
Item No. h57
