City of Colton <br />COMMUNITY YOUTH PROJECT COORDINATOR (continued) <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />Principles and practices of recreation, leisure and community <br />services appropriate for pre -teen and teen level youth. <br />Principles and practices of program development and <br />evaluation. <br />Community resource organizations and appropriate referral <br />sources. <br />Principles and methods of group dynamics. <br />Basic counseling skills. <br />Cross-cultural and family system issues. <br />Effective public relations techniques and methods. <br />Ability To: <br />Communicate effectively with all age and ethnic groups of <br />varying socio-economic conditions. <br />Assess and analyze problems and make specific recommendations. <br />Design and present specific programs and/or services for <br />clients, parents and community groups. <br />Work independently in the absence of direct supervision. <br />supervise, train and evaluate staff and volunteers. <br />Establish and maintain effective working relationships with <br />those contacted in the course of work. <br />Experience and Education - Any combination of experience and <br />education that would likely provide the required knowledge and <br />abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the <br />knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Experience: <br />Five years of paid or volunteer experience counseling <br />adolescents. <br />2 <br />
