The policies on sexual <br />harassment and non-discrimination on the basis of handicapped status were established October 21, 1993. The <br />policy on national origin harassment was established September 20, 1985. The laws that cover harassment have <br />undergone a number of changes since the adoption of these policies. <br />The attached administrative policy "Harassment Policy Statement and Complaint Procedure", updates the City's <br />harassment policies and consolidates the three policies into one. This policy also brings the City into <br />compliance with recent changes in the laws regarding harassment and hostile work environment. A recent <br />Department of Fair Employment and Housing audit also brought up the need to update these policies. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached Administrative Policy "Harassment Policy Statement and <br />Complaint Procedure.
