°tea
CITY OF COLTON % o
Wr
INTEROFFICE MEMO 1887
.ca
TO: JERRY L. YOUNG DATE: MARCH 14, 1994
CITY MANAGER
FROM: GORDON R. JOHNSON
Personnel Director
SUBJECT: MARCH 15 COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM #4 - RESOLUTION FOR CITY CLERK SALARY
Proposed Resolution No. R-28-94 in my council agenda packet revising the salary for City Clerk states that
it is amending Resolution No. R-40-94. Then in the body of Resolution No. R-28-94, reference is made to
Resolution No. R-40-92. These are apparently typographical errors since the March 15 agenda only includes
resolutions up to and including No. R-32-94 (see agenda item #33). Resolution No. R-40-92 was adopted by
the City Council on April 7, 1992, incorporating all actions taken by the Council over the preceding year and
is not the appropriate resolution to now be amending.
Resolution No. R-28-94 should be amending Resolution No. R-11-91 (copy attached) which was the last
resolution setting the salary and benefits for the City Clerk. In order to minimize confusion in the future, the
Council should repeal Resolution No. R-11-91 with a new resolution incorporating all of the provisions of R-
11-91 plus the new amount of supplemental compensation and modifying provision #4 of that resolution
excluding car allowance fi-onthe benefit package. In addition, I recommend that the Personnel Department
prepare all salary resolutions and amendments thereto to minimize the chance for error.
Attachment
