•1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />18.56.040 DECLARATION OF NUISANCE. <br />Whenever the director of community development finds, upon the <br />recommendation of a duly authorized representative of the community <br />development department, that a nuisance, as defined by Section 18.56.030 <br />exists on any premises located within the city, he or she shall serve upon the <br />property owner a Notice of Intention to Abate in accord with the provisions <br />of Section 18.56.070 hereof setting a public hearing date and advising the <br />property owner, lessee or occupant of the property on which the nuisance is <br />located of the nuisance and directing that the nuisance be abated. The <br />property owner, lessee or occupant shall be notified of the existence of the <br />alleged nuisance in accordance with Section 18.56.090. The notification shall <br />detail the violations and establish a reasonable abatement period which shall <br />not be less than ten days. <br />18.56.050 VOLUNTARY ABATEMENT OF NUISANCES. <br />The owner, lessee or occupant of any building, structure or property alleged <br />to be a nuisance under the provisions of this Chapter may abate the nuisance <br />at any time within the abatement period set forth in the Notice of Intention to <br />Abate by rehabilitation, repair, removal, or demolition. The owner, lessee, <br />or occupant shall advise the community development department of the <br />abatement. Once so advised, the department shall inspect the premises to <br />insure that the nuisance has, in fact, been abated. <br />
