Y2K CITY COMPLIANCE/READINESS
The following represent the readiness and contingencies planning for the various
departments within the City that have some exposure to a Y2K incident. Even
though the City personnel anticipate no disruption of City services, prudency
would dictate that these actions be taken.
Community
• Not telling anyone to be any more or less prepared than they would for
earthquakes
• Most of the banks and public institutions have undergone Y2K testing
• Would only suggest prudency and establishing a level of comfort for being
prepared
General Government
• All critical systems have been tested and are compliant
✓ Utility billing
✓ General ledger
✓ Investments and banking are covered
• Some non-critical systems, PC's and printers, are still suspect
• Any system that may be of concern will be shut down over the New Year
weekend
• Some critical systems will be tested either Saturday (1/1) or Sunday (1/2)
prior to Monday opening for work
• Have higher concern of false failures due to hackers and computer wiz who
want to play games with the Y2K issue
• Have arranged for gas dispensing cards to be issued by POMA automated
fueling in Rialto. 22 will temporarily issued to all City departments. 4 each to
police, fire, and electric. 2 each to public works, neighborhood services,
water, and wastewater. 1 each to city manager and community
development.
Public Works
Fleet -related items appear to be compliant
All other equipment is OK
Traffic signals are under review by GTS. Initial findings indicate that the
signals should be compliant and will operate so long as there is power. The
problem is that the older controllers may not be able to be synchronized after
New Year's. If there is a failure here, modifications will have to be made.
11/16/9. 440• /o
mrd•, kqv4f NPN
