C. P.
Mr. Young stated that Staff requests permission to negotiate and prepare a contract for the
Mayor's signature for the engineering services of Currie Engineering for the preparation of
plans and specifications for the lift station expansion at the Water Quality Control Plant
site.
Mr. Young continued it is Staff's feeling that retaining Currie Engineering for the design
of the lift station is in the best interest of the City, as the lift station was originally
designed by Currie Engineering and was intended to be a phase construction.
Mr. Young said with future servicing of the Grand Terrace area and the Cooley Ranch development,
it is necessary for the expansion, which will include enlargement of the pumps and installing
a structure over the top. Mr. Young advised under the contract with the Grand Terrace Sewer
District, provision 5(b), payment and cost, the district will pay or reimburse to the City of
Colton, on a pro -rata share, the cost of the lift station expansion. Mr. Young said the cost
of the engineering fees will be between $10,000 and $15,000, and can be paid for out of the
bond funds.
On motion of Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Gonzales and passed, Council granted per-
mission to Staff to negotiate and prepare contract for Mayor's signature for services at the
Water Quality Control Plant.
Request Permission to Advertise for Bids for equipment in Water Department and the Street Depart-
ment.
Mr. Young siad that Staff requests permission to advertise for bids for a backhoe and trencher
for the Water Division, and for a four wheel street sweeper for the Street Division.
Mr. Young advised these items are budgeted for in the 1974-75 budget.
Councilman Rehrer asked if the specs, as written up,; fill all of the necessary requirements for
this equipment.
Mr. Young answered yes, they do.
On motion of Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes and passed, Council granted permission
to advertise for bids for equipment in the Water Department and the Street Department.
Three Million Gallon Water Reservoir.
Mr. Young advised that Staff received and opened bids at 10:00 a. m., Friday, August 2, for the
construction of the three million gallon water reservoir.
Mr. Young continued :that Staff was unable to make an analysis of thes e b ids due to the large
number of bidders, however, none of which bid the complete job. Mr. Young said the total of
the low bid came over what had been anticipated.
Mr. Young reported that Staff is looking into other alternatives, conferring with the City
Attorney, and therefore, requested this item be held over until the next regular Council
Meeting.
Award Street Paving Contract.
Mr. Young stated that Staff received and opened three bids at 10:00 a. m., July 29 for the
street overlay program.
Mr. Young said the street resurfacing will include the following:
Pennsylvania from "C" Street to Mill Street
La Cadena Drive from 8th Street to Mt.
