up an agreement with the Alart Company for the removal of sludge at the City's Water Quality
Control Plant which would be brought back to the Council for consideration and execution.
Vacation of 6th Street.
Mr. Young referred to his memorandum dated December 12, 1974, regarding the vacation of 6th
Street, north of K Street.
Mr. Young advised this portion of 6th Street is unpaved, completely surrounded by railroad
tracks and cannot be used for vehicular traffic and, therefore, it would be in the best
interest of the City to vacate this portion of 6th Street.
Mr. Young concluded if Council agrees, Staff recommends approval of a resolution declaring the
City's intention to order the abandonment of 6th Street.
On motion of Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Spragins and unanimously passed,
Resolution No. 3485 was approved:
RESOLUTION NO. 3485 - RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA,
Mr. Young read to the Council members his memorandum dated December 12, 1974, regarding a
request from Mr. Vernon Schafer, Colton Piano Company, for waiver of the sidewalk require-
ment in connection with the building permits at this time.
Mr. Young advised that if the Council grants this waiver, Mr. Schafer has indicated he is
willing to enter into an agreement with the City where the City, upon thirty days written
notice, can require the installation of the sidewalk. Mr. Young said this agreement also
constitutes a recordable convenant running with the land and is the same type of agreement
that the Council had previously entered into with the -Canales.
Mr. Young concluded that if Council agrees, Staff recommends waiving the sidewalk require-
ments and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign the sidewalk agreement.
