60
Mayor Huntoon said the Council members themselves were not happy about not being able to
help.
Councilman Gonzales reported that last year a study committee, consisting of himself, Mrs.
Andon, Mr. Lofy, Dr. Cook.and others, met and reviewed the possibility of constructing s
pool on a J oint venture, City/School. Councilman Gonzales said at that time, it was not
known whether the City pool would be useable. Councilman Gonzales said a structural engineer
was engaged to look at the soundness of the pool and upon receiving his report that the
pool was not structurally sound and would be unsafe for children to swim in, the Council then
took the action to close the pool down.
Mr. John Montroy, 864 Valencia, said he as a parent would like to see the Council make this
a priority subject and look into the feasibility of joining the School District in the con-
struction and funding of a new pool.
Mayor Huntoon replied the City has already taken steps in that direction and will continue
to follow through.
Council
members said that
individually
they will help
the Swim Team as
much as possible,
however,
as a body of the
City they are
unable to do
r
anything at this
time.
Executive Session
Council adjourned to executive session at 9:00 p. m., for personnel matters.
Council reconvened at 9:12 p. m. All members present.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, on motion of
Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Spragins and unanimously passed, Mayor Huntoon
adjourned the meeting at 9:15 p. m.
HELEN A.
