zi <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 7, 1974 <br />A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the above given date at <br />7:30 p. m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Huntoon presiding. <br />Mayor Huntoon led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Invocation was offered by the Reverend Father Peter Luque of San Salvador Catholic Church. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Council members present were Hayes, Spragins, Rehrer, Gonzales, and Mayor Huntoon. Also present <br />were City Manager Huffaker, City Attorney Hutton, and City Clerk Ramos. <br />CONSENT CALENDAR: <br />On motion of Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer and unanimously passed, the Consent <br />Calendar was approved as follows: <br />1. Approval of Minutes - Regular Meeting held April 16, 1974, and Adjourned Regular <br />Meeting held April 22, 1974, as on file in the Office of the City Clerk. <br />2. Approval of Warrants - Nos. 11647 through 11911 (11894-11899 to be listed next payroll <br />period) and Nos. 8241 through 8380 (April 26) inclusive, as recommended by Director of <br />Finance. <br />3. Grant Deed from Librado Arrellano and Viviana Arellano, for street purposes, accept <br />and authorize recording. <br />4. City of Hope request authorization to conduct "Hope Sunday" fund raising campaign. <br />Approved by Police and Finance Departments. <br />5. Notice of Completion - Fontana Paving for Davis Park construction, approve and authorize <br />recording. <br />Mayor's Reports and Proclamations: <br />On motion of Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes and unanimously passed, Council <br />ratified and Mayor's appointments of Councilman Frank Gonzales as Delegate and Councilwoman <br />Gertrude Spragins as Alternate to the East Valley Planning Agency. <br />CORRESPONDENCE: <br />City of San Bernardino requesting the City Council adopt a resolution urging the governor to <br />retain proposed medical training program for UC Riverside in the 74-75 Budget. <br />City Manager Huffaker read a letter from Mr. W. R. Holcomb, Mayor for the City of San Bernardino, <br />requesting the City of Colton to adopt a resolution similar to that of the City of San Bernardino, <br />urging the Governor and State Legislature to include a model medical training program to be carried <br />out by the University of California at Riverside, in conjunction with UCLA School of Medicine and <br />San Bernardino County Hospital, in the fiscal 1974-75 budget. <br />On motion of Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes and unanimously passed, Resolution <br />No. 3427 was approved: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3427 <br />- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON URGING THE GOVERNOR <br />TO RETAIN A PROPOSED JOINT UCR/UCLA MEDICAL TRAINING PROGRAM FOR UC RIVERSIDE <br />IN THE 74-75 BUDGET. <br />City of Lynwood Resolution No. 74-29, Urging Opposition to Proposition 5 on the June 4, 1974, <br />Ballot. <br />City Manager Huffaker stated that Council members have copies of the letter and resolution from <br />the City of Lynwood, urging opposition to Proposition 5 on the June 4, 1974, ballot. <br />Mr. Huffaker said the City of Lynwood is requesting that the City of Colton adopt a similar reso- <br />lution. <br />Mayor Huntoon said he believes that in the past the Council has refrained from supporting or op- <br />posing matters of this nature, and he felt that no action should be taken on this item. <br />Council members concurred with the Mayor's statements. <br />Mr. Duane Sharp, Colton High :School Band Parents Club, requesting the following: (1) Use of <br />Fleming Park for Jazz Concert; (2) Variance from any necessary fees in regards to Rummage Sale <br />to be held at High School: (3) City suonsorinz Colton Invitational Band Review. <br />City Manager Huffaker stated that Mr. Duane Sharp is in the audience this evening and would like <br />to address the Council. <br />Mr. Duane Sharp, 765 West E Street, Colton, started he is the President of the Colton High School <br />Band Parents Club, and would like to present the three items requested by the Colton High School <br />Band on the dates they are to occur. <br />�'`i" '1974 <br />
