103 <br />City Manager Huffaker stated that Mr. Davis' comments are well taken. <br />COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Award Schedule II of the Three Million Gallon Water Reservoir <br />Community Services Director Earl Young stated that Staff received and opened bids on Septemb- <br />er 24, 1974, for Schedule II of the three million gallon water reservoir, and as Council will <br />recall, this is a readvertisement of the demolition and earthwork and retaining walls. <br />Mr. Young continued that two bids were received, Jessee Hubbs and Sons was low with a total <br />bid of $46,436, and Kruger McGrew Construction Company entered a bid of $58,363. Mr. Young <br />said the previous bid that was rejected by the Council on these particular items was in the <br />amount of $86,407, therefore, by readvertising, approximately $40,000 difference was <br />realized. <br />Mr. Young concluded that Staff recommends awarding the bid for Schedule II to Jesse Hubbs and <br />Sons in the amount of $46,436. <br />On motion of Councilwoman Spragins, seconded by Councilman Gonzales and passed, Council <br />approved awarding the bid to Jesse Hubbs & Sons in the amount of $46,436., for Phase II of <br />the Three Million Gallon Water Reservoir. <br />CITY MANAGER REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Authorization to advertise for bids on Fork Lift - Electric Department. <br />City Manager Huffaker stated that as Council will recall, at the previous meeting Staff was <br />directed to report on the present condition of the fork lift used by the Electric Utility <br />Director. <br />Mr. Huffaker stated he hopes this information is sufficient for the Council members, and if <br />so, Staff would like to proceed with the advertising for the fork lift. <br />On motion of Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Spragins and passed, Council author- <br />ized Staff to advertise for bids on a fork lift for the Electric Department. <br />Award Bid for pickup - Electric Department. <br />Mr. Huffaker reported that bids were opened on September 12, 1974, for one 3/4 ton pickup cab <br />and chassis only. <br />Mr. Huffaker continued that bids were received from Moss Motors of San Bernardino in the net <br />amount of $3,756.23 and from Center Chevrolet of San Bernardino in the net amount of $4,222.52. <br />Mr. Huffaker concluded that Staff recommends the low bid of Moss Motors Dodge be accepted in <br />the amount of $3,756.23. <br />On motion of Councilwoman Spragins, seconded by Councilman Hayes and passed, Council approved <br />awarding bid for the 3/4 ton pickup cab and chassis for the Electric Department to Moss motors <br />Dodge in the amount of $3,756.23. <br />Request to declare Surplus Property. <br />Mr. Huffaker stated that as Council is aware, the City has been accumulating surplus equipment <br />to arrange for its sale. <br />Mr. Huffaker said these items have been listed in a report, 27 vehicles in all, of which the <br />Council members have copies. <br />Mr. Huffaker said that Staff respectfully requests Council action dec lacing these vehicles <br />as surplus property and further request authorization to invite sealed bids for the sale of <br />the vehicles. <br />Councilman Gonzales asked how much mileage these vehicles have and what condition they are in. <br />Mr. Huffaker responded that the majority of these vehicles have many miles on them,.however, <br />he understands they are in satisfactory condition. <br />On motion of Councilwoman Spragins, seconded by Councilman Gonzales and passed, Council <br />approved Staff's reques t to dispose of Surplus Property. ( 27 vehicles) <br />Safety Equipment for Police Department. <br />Mr. Huffaker advised that the Purchasing Department opened bids on various safety equipment <br />on September 13, 1974, and the F. Morton Pitt Company was low bidder on two items, while the <br />remaining low bide were from California Electronic Police Equipment. <br />Mr. Huffaker said that Staff recommends buying the low bid items from each company, which <br />will result in a savings of $225.92, rather than buying from a total bid. <br />Mr. Huffaker stated it is recommended that Items 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, be awarded to <br />California Electronic Police Equipment in the amount of $4,881.18, and Items 4 and 5 be <br />awarded to F.
