14U <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilwoman Spragins, to approve Resolution No. <br />3493, Amending Resolution No. 3441, Pay and Classification Plan, adding the positions of <br />Electrical Engineering Aide and Planning Aide. Vote was unanimous. <br />Agreements <br />Fire Mutual Aid <br />City Manager reported that under the Mutual Aide Agreement that the City of Colton and the <br />City of Loma Linda are a part of, Loma Linda would be responding to calls within the Reche <br />Canyon area and Colton would in turn respond to Industrial areas within Loma Linda. <br />Personnel <br />City Manager requested an Executive Session at the end of the meeting for personnel matters. <br />CITY ATTORNEY: <br />Claims <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilwoman Spragins to reject the Claims of <br />Theresa B. Cabral, Frank Hernandez and Harold J. Hiett, as recommended by the City Attorney. <br />Vote was unanimous. <br />Executive Session <br />Personnel <br />Council adjourned to Executive Session at 7:50 p.m., and reconvened at 8:27 p.m. All members <br />present. <br />Boards and Commissions <br />Civil Service Commission <br />Mayor Huntoon announced appointments of Mr. Allen McKersie and Mr. Neale Adair. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Gonzales, to ratify the Mayor's appoint- <br />ments to the Civil Service Commission. Vote was unanimous. <br />PArennnAI <br />Police Department <br />City Manager Huffaker reported in accordance with Civil Service Rules and Regulations, he was <br />appointing Mr. Phillip Elliott, Chief of Police. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to ratify the appointment of <br />Mr. Phillip Elliott as the new Chief of Police. Vote was unanimous. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: <br />School District <br />Dr.&7en Cook, Superintendent of Colton Joint Unified School District, reported on the Tax <br />Override Proposal to be voted on at a March 4, 1975 Election. <br />Dr. Cook reported on the purposes of the Proposed Tax Override, the cost and proposed projects. <br />Discussion by Council followed and individual opinions on the proposal were voiced. <br />Mayor Huntoon thanked Dr. Cook for his presentation. <br />RDA <br />Mr. James Hicks, of Colton Development Company extended a personal invitation to the City <br />Council to attend the dedication of Dominguez Plaza, scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 1975. <br />Library <br />Councilman Gonzales asked if Board of Supervisors Chairman Hansberger had been contacted <br />with regards to a Joint Powers Agreement for a new Library. <br />City Manager Huffaker reported on a conversation he had held with Chairman Hansberger. Mr. <br />Huffaker stated it appears the City of Colton could have a new Library built through a Joint <br />Powers Agreement by becoming a branch member of the County Library System. Pursuit of this <br />type of project would necessitate the Council making a formal request to the Board of <br />Supervisors. <br />Moved by Councilman Gonzales, seconded by Mayor Huntoon, to continue working with Chairman <br />Hansberger to establish alternatives for construction of a new Library. Vote was unanimous. <br />Councilman Rehrer suggested referring to the Library Study conducted a few years ago. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilwoman Spragins, to adjourn. Mayor Huntoon <br />adjourned the meeting at 9:04 p.m., on unanimous vote. <br />
