Mr. Huffaker
stated like many cities throughout the state, the City is going to pay more for insurance and receive less and that
he believes the proposal that has been made is as good as any city has received.
Mr. Johnsen, Assistant to the City Manager, reported the City has received three proposals through Calvert -Belden
Insurance.
1. Admiral Insurance - Per Occurrence Policy
This would be a $25,000 deductible per occurrence, with a $75,000 Annual Aggragate. Mr. Johnsen
explained that under this policy the City would be self-insured for the first $25,000 per occurrence or $75,000
annually and this would be for up to $500,000,000 coverage. Mr. Johnsen said after the $25,000 per occurrence
or after the $75,000 the City would be insured up to five million dollars. Mr. Johnsen said the premium would be
$85,500 annually.
2. Fremont Indemnith - Claims Made Policy
This would be a $25,000 deductible per occurrence, with a $75,000 Annual Aggragate, and $500,000,000
coverage. The premium would be $59,476 annually.
3. Fremont Indemnity - Claims Made Policy
This would be a $5,000 deductibel per occurrence, with $60,000 annual aggregate, and $500,000,000
coverage. The premium would be $103,9.17 annually.
Mr. Johnsen explained the insurance terminology of Per Occurrence Policy and Claims Made Policy.
Mr. Johnsen reported these proposals differ from the current policy in that we currently have a First Dollar
Cost Policy, and last year the premium was $52,000, and it is his and Mr. Belden's recommendation that the
Admiral Insurance Policy at $25,000 deductible be accepted and that the City retain R. L. Kautz Company for ad-
ministration thereof, at a sum of $1,500.
Mr. Johnsen stated that once Council has considered the proposals and a decision made, Mr. Belden is prepared to
contact the insurance company and bind the insurance as of 12:01 a. m.
Discussion followed on establishing a reserve fund. City Manager Huffaker stated he would formally bring this back
to the Council at a later date.
Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Gonzales, to purchase the City of Colton's Liability Insurance
from Admiral Insurance Company with Calvert -Belden as the Agent and R. L. Kautz as the Administrator, that said
insurance policy be at $25,000 Deductible Per Occurrence, $75,000 Annual Aggragate and $500,000,000 coverage,
with annual premium of $85,500 and $1,500 cost for R. L. Kautz. Unanimous vote.
JUN c p 1976
