2,3 6 <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 6, 1976 <br />A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the above given date at 7:30 p. m., in <br />the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Huntoon presiding. <br />Mayor Huntoon led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Invocation was offered by the Reverend Floyd Yeates of the Olive Street Baptist Church. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Council members present were Hayes, Spragins, Rehrer, Gonzales, and Mayor Huntoon. Also present were City <br />Manager Huffaker, City Attorney Edwards, and City Clerk Ramos. <br />CONSENT CALENDAR: <br />Mi niitPc <br />December 16, 1975 <br />Warrants <br />4332 through 4455 <br />24164 through 24468 <br />December 19, 1975 Inclusive <br />Notice of Completion --approve and authorize recording. <br />VTN, for Accident Identification & Surveillance Study. <br />Camp Fire Girls, San Andreas Council, Inc. Approved request to conduct <br />candy sale in Colton, January 21 to February 16, 1976. <br />Resolution No. 3561. Approved for funding to purchase Redevelopment Agency <br />equipment. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to approve the Consent Calendar. Vote was unanimous. <br />MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: <br />Resolution of Commendation - Mr. Gerald Harris <br />Mayor Huntoon read a Resolution of Commendation honoring Mr. Gerald Harris for his twenty-five years of service <br />as a Police Reserve Officer and his many other contributions to the City, and presented the Resolution to Mr. <br />Harris. <br />Councilman Rehrer also presented to Mr. Harris a badge from the Police Department, and also praised him for <br />his many services and dedication to our City. <br />Proclamation - March of Dimes Month <br />Mayor Huntoon read a Proclamation, honoring January, 1976, as the March of Dimes Month. <br />Commission Appointments <br />Mayor Huntoon stated the Commission appointments, for the Recreation and Parks Commission, two, and the Civil <br />Service Commission, two, will be discussed later this evening during Executive Session. <br />CORRESPONDENCE: <br />Variance <br />Smith's Colton Flowers, V-7-75 <br />City Manager Huffaker read a letter dated December 15, 1975, from Mr. Floyd D. Smith, regarding his recent <br />Variance application and certain conditions as stated in Planning Commission Resolution No. 789, which had <br />been approved by the Planning Commission and City Council. <br />Mr. Huffaker asked the City Attorney the proper procedures to follow with this request. <br />After discussion with the Planning Director, the City Attorney stated that inasmuch as a public hearing has <br />already been held on the Variance, V-7-75, this matter will have to be referred back to Staff and the Planning <br />Commission, and a new request and application will have to be submitted by Mr. Smith. Mr. Edwards suggested <br />that the City Council could waive the requirement of another application and filing fee. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, Mr. Smith's request was referred back to the Planning <br />Commission for proper procedure waiving the application and filing fees. Vote was unanimous. <br />Chamber of Commerce <br />Christmas Parade and Park Program <br />City Manager Huffaker read a letter dated December 22, 1975, from Mr. Bill McGuerh, Parade Chairman, and Mr. <br />John Creatura, Chamber President, of the Chamber of Commerce, thanking the Council members for attending the <br />Parade and Park Program during the Christmas festivities. <br />Multi -Service Center <br />Community Action Group <br />City Manager Huffaker referred to a letter dated December 26, 1975, from Camilla Herrera, Chairwoman of the <br />Colton Community Action Group, regarding the Council's recent decision on the site for the Colton Multi - <br />Service Center and other issues. <br />Mr. Huffaker stated the letter is quite lengthy to read, and the Council members and both newspapers have <br />copies of the letter. <br />On Council consensus, the letter was noted and filed. <br />JAN 61976 <br />
