RAMOS <br />City Clerk <br />City of Colton <br />Approved this 1st day of August, 1978. <br />ADJOURNED COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 25, 1978 <br />In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular <br />Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the above <br />given date at 6:00 p.m., in -the Conference Room of City Hall, Mayor <br />Gonzales presiding. <br />RnT.T. CAT.T.- <br />a) <br />Council members present were Hayes, Cisneros, Rehrer, and Mayor Gonzales. <br />Also present were City Manager Calabrese, City Attorney Edwards, and <br />City Clerk Ramos. <br />E[ Budget Planning <br />Community Services <br />Director Earl Young described the Administration portion of Community <br />Services as salaries for the Director, an Administrative Assistant, <br />a Secretary II, and a Clerk Typist. <br />Discussion followed on eliminating the position of Administrative <br />Assistant in this budget. <br />Mr. Young stated in terms of reports, various types of research for <br />all enterprise entities in Community Services, the position is very <br />much warranted. <br />City Manager Calabrese stated he couldn't see any tax dollar advantage <br />to eliminating a position where the salary is supported through the <br />enterprise funds of the department. <br />Councilman Rehrer felt if the Assistant to the City Manager position <br />can be deleted this Administrative position can be deleted. <br />City Manager Calabrese reported if the City Council wishes to look at <br />additional cost savings, he would recommend assigning the Planning <br />Director as the Assistant to the City Manager and combining the two <br />departments for a substantial savings in salaries. <br />The City Council tentatively approved deletion of the Administrative <br />Assistant in the Community Services Department and decreased Account 28 <br />to $52.00. <br />Mayor Gonzales stated since everything is tentative, he would propose <br />Council look at the City Manager's recommendation of combining the <br />Planning- Department with the City Manager's Office for a savings in <br />salaries and to lend administrative support; contingent on the out- <br />come of the Assistant to the City Manager position. <br />Engineering <br />Director Young reported the budget includes the salary for a full time <br />City Engineer, the position having been approved by the Council. <br />Discussion followed on in-house engineering services and consulting <br />engineering services. <br />Council tentatively approved the Engineering Budget with deletion of <br />$240 and $400 in Accounts 27 and 28 respectively. <br />Street Maintenance <br />Director Young reported Accounts 27 and 28 should now reflect a -O- <br />balance and the position of Street and Refuse Superintendent is deleted. <br />AL 2 1978 <br />
