110 <br />The budget as presented was tentatively approved. <br />Street Sweeping <br />Mr. Calabrese said the Street Sweeping Program is one that is being <br />recommended as a contract out service. <br />Discussion followed on the savings to be realized by contracting out. <br />On Council consensus, it was tentatively approved to contract out the <br />Street Sweeping Program and to look at what should be done with the <br />$41,000 that will be released from the depreciation restricted fund, <br />that is, whether the money should remain or partially remain in a <br />depreciation fund or be used to off set the City deficit in lost <br />revenues under Proposition 13. <br />Traffic Signal Maintenance Services, Traffic Signs, Traffic Stripping <br />The City Council tentatively approved the Traffic Signal Maint. Services <br />Budget, the budgets for Traffic Signs and Traffic Stripping. <br />Curbs, Gutters, and Sidewalks <br />Mr. Young reported this is a program that is recommended to be deleted. <br />Discussion followed on the responsibility of property owners if the <br />program were to be deleted, liability, and procedures to be followed. <br />The Council recessed at 7:20 p.m. and reconvened. at 7:30 p.m., all <br />members present. <br />On Council consensus the budget for Curbs, Gutters, and Sidewalks, <br />was tentatively approved with an option of reviewing for possible <br />decrease in service prior to final budget adoption. <br />Local Roads <br />Director Young reported this budget is comprised of SB 325, Article 8 <br />Funds. Mr. Young stated he has been informed additional funds in <br />the amount of $132,000 are available. <br />Mr. Young informed the Council that on this item, as well as the <br />next, Special Gas Tax Projects, staff will be coming back to the <br />Council with recommendations for street overlay and street widening <br />projects. <br />Weed Abatement <br />Mr. Young reported this is an In and Out Account. <br />City Yards and Auto Shops <br />Council made no changes to the budgets of the City Yards and the <br />Auto Shops. <br />Parks Maintenance <br />Director Young reported Accounts 27 and 28 have been decreased by <br />$400 jointly. <br />Discussion was, held on State Contract for Freeway Watering. Staff <br />was instructed to look into the possibility of cutting back on the <br />watering and still comply with the contract. The budget was tenta- <br />tively approved as submitted. <br />Street Trees and Parkways <br />Discussion was held on the recommended deletion of this service. <br />Council tentatively approved leaving the budget for Street Trees <br />and Parkways in tact, with an open door for reconsideration. <br />Park Bond <br />Cit Manager Calabrese said a proposal was made to eliminate monies <br />JUL L 2 J 978 <br />
