2 90 Councilwoman Cisneros asked Council's uncil s consideration of funding Capital Improve- <br />ment Items Nos. 2, 5, and 9 as shown on Pages 238 and 243 of the Parks Budget. <br />After considerable discussion on the funding of these projects, Council consensus <br />was to allocate $18,000. <br />City Manager Calabrese cautioned the Council that with all the additional items <br />and personnel that they habe added, the budget reserves are now very, very low <br />and that the priorities of these expenditures need to be looked at. <br />Street Trees and Parkways <br />After review of the Street Trees and Parkways Budget, the Council and City Manager <br />agreed that a sum of $500.00 should be added in the Overtime Account. <br />City Yards <br />Council reviewed the City Yards budget in brief. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, to tentatively approve <br />the Communtiy Services Budget with the recommended additions. Unanimous vote. <br />Library <br />City Librarian Hornburg presented a letter to the Mayor from the Library Board, in <br />which they requested the Council to consider a salary increase for the position of <br />Library Assistant II. <br />Council was of the opinion that a wage and classification study was needed and that <br />this should be accomplished before a final decision on this matter. <br />City Council <br />Councilwoman Cisneros asked what classification has been used as the clerical <br />position to the Council. <br />Finance Director Helsley and the City Manager responded it was a Secretary I <br />classification. <br />Council requested that the Secretary I position be reinstated rather than the <br />Secretary II budgeted. <br />Community Promotion <br />Councilman Rehrer asked what the Community Promotion Budget entailed. <br />Finance Director Helsley reported the budget covers Dues and Publications to <br />organizations to which the city as whole belongs, such as: League of California <br />Cities, SCAG, SANBAG, etc. Mr. Helsley said the budget further covers activities <br />such as Sister City Program, Homecoming Picnic, Student Government Day, Commendations <br />and Awards, etc. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to tentatively approve <br />the City Council and Community Promotion Budgets as amended. Unanimous vote. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer and unanimously passed, <br />Mayor Gonzales adjourned the meeting at 7:50 p. m., to meet for an Adjourned <br />Regular Meeting on Thursday, August 2, 1979, at 6:00 p. m., in the Council Chambers <br />of City Hall. <br />s f t <br />HELEN A.
