Approve and authorize recording. <br />Mayor Gonzales advised that a letter had been received from Millie Herrera announc- <br />ing the dedication of the Peter S. Luque Center on Wednesday, December 12, 19795 <br />(Y) with a mass at San Salvador Church at.7:30 p. m., followed by a potluck dinner and <br />music and dancing at the Center. <br />Q Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to approve the Con- <br />sent Calendar and dedication of the Peter S. Luque Center as outlined. Vote was <br />Q unanimous. <br />MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: <br />Social Service Endorsements <br />Emergency Telephone Service <br />Mayor Gonzales read a memorandum dated November 29, 1979, regarding emergency <br />telephone service for the handicapped in Colton which could be made available <br />by acquiring a Porta Printer that could be placed in a central location, pref <br />errably either at the Police Department Dispatch Office or the Fire Department <br />Dispatch Office, whichever would be the most suitable in the dispatching of <br />emergency aid. <br />Mayor Gonzales advised the approximate cost to the City would be $500, or it <br />can be made available on a rental basis from the Telephone Company and billed <br />with the phone costs for $27.25 per month. <br />Mayor Gonzales stated. that he has also received material from the County Board <br />of Supervisors and the County Community Services Department regarding important <br />new services for hearing or speech impaired individuals, and this information may <br />be helpful to the City of Colton in securing these services also. <br />Mayor Gonzales then recommended this matter be referred to Staff for more informa- <br />tion and report back to the City Council. <br />Boards and Commissions <br />Mayor Gonzales requested Council appointments to an Ad Hoc Committee to conduct a <br />Feasibility Study of a proposed Poker Parlor Club in Colton. Appointments were <br />made as follows: <br />Councilman Temby appointed - Abe Simon <br />Councilman Rehrer appointed - Weston Hayden <br />Councilwoman Cisneros appointed - Carolyn Wright <br />Councilman Hayes appointed - Albert Huntoon <br />Mayor Gonzales appointed - Bruce G. Gray <br />Councilwoman Cisneros appointed - Jim Snow <br />Councilman Rehrer appointed - Rev. Robert K. Johnson <br />Mr. Abe Simon was also appointed as temporary Chairman of the Committee until the <br />Committee itself could appoint their own Chairman. <br />Rent Review Board <br />Mayor Gonzales appointed Gabe Castorena, Jr. to the Rent Review Board, and Council- <br />man Temby appointed Henry Steil. Mayor Gonzales asked the other Council Members to <br />submit their appointments as soon as possible, keeping in mind that this will be a <br />nine -member Board. <br />�- <br />1.f " e j <br />
