Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, approving Agree - <br />339 <br />ment with Yellow Checker Leasing, Inc., for Dial -A -Ride services in the City of <br />Colton as outlined by Staff. Unanimous vote. <br /><({' <br />Cable TV <br />l \ t <br />Mr. Gonzales stated that since preparing Staff's reports and accompanying data on <br />the Cable TV proposals, another company has submitted their financial statements <br />and information requested by Staff for compilation. <br />Mr. Gonzales said Staff would suggest setting up interviews with each of the three <br />interested companies, after which Council may be in a better position to make its <br />decision on this matter. <br />Councilman Hayes suggested getting someone with expertise in this field to help <br />explain the technical aspects of this type of project and to assist the City. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, approving Staff's recom- <br />mendation with regard to the three Cable TV companies and their proposals for a <br />franchise with the City. Vote was unanimous. <br />Agreements <br />Deferred Income Program <br />co <br />m Mr. Gonzales advised that in compliance with M.O.U.'s signed by the three employees' <br />associations, effective July 1, 1979, o.ne of the benefits was to provide a Deferred <br />Compensation Plan for the City. <br />Mr. Gonzales continued that a committee was formed, consisting of City representa- <br />tives and employee representatives, to consider the various programs available and <br />to recommend the most suitable program for the City of Colton, and this committee's <br />recommendation is that the City enter into an agreement with Glendale Federal Sav- <br />ings and Loan to provide the Deferred Compensation Plan for the employees. <br />Mr. Gonzales concluded if Council concurs with the Committee's recommendation, it. <br />would be in order to approve Resolution No. 3947, authorizing the City Manager to <br />execute the Agreement with Glendale Federal Savings and Loan. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to approve Resolution <br />No. 3947. Unanimous vote. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3947 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON ADOPTING <br />AN EMPLOYEES' DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXECUTION OF AGREEMENTS RELATED TO SAID PLAN BY THE CITY MANAGER. <br />Public Utilities Files <br />California Energy Commission <br />Mr. Gonzales presented to the Council Members for their consideration and approval <br />Resolution No. 3948 regarding the California Energy Commission's electric power <br />demand forecast. Mr. Gonzales also referred to Southern California Edison's Cri- <br />tique of the California Energy Commission Staff's Demand Forecast, which was in- <br />cluded with Staff's report for the Council's review and information. <br />Mr. Joe Faulkner, representing the Southern California Edison Company, spoke to <br />the Council Members with regard to present electrical power demands, sufficient <br />energy resources for future demands for electricity, and advised that these fore- <br />casts are used to judge the need for new power plants, which must receive certi- <br />fication from the California Energy Commission. <br />Electrical Utility Superintendent Gale Drews also spoke to the City Council ad- <br />vising of the City of Colton's position in these forecasts, the need for our City <br />to look into all new resources for future energy to compensate for the continuing <br />growth and development of Colton. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to approve Resolution <br />No. 3948. Vote was unanimous. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3948 - RESOLUTION.BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON TO THE <br />CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION. <br />Contracts <br />East Valley Regional Council on Aging <br />Mr. Gonzales discussed a proposed contract with the East Valley Regional Council on <br />Aging, which the City must enter into in order to receive Title III funds, in the <br />0 V ,:a 1979 <br />
