Minutes March 18, 1980 Warrants 339393 34218 through 34461 12640, 126413 12655, and 12800 through 13001 March 28, 1980 Inclusive Bids Request authorization to advertise for Bids, Backhoe Unit, Parks & Cemetery Division. Request authorization to advertise for Bids, Refuse Collection Truck, Refuse Division. Request authorization to advertise for Bids, Water Main Materials, Water Division. Deeds ORMUS Corporation N. V., Right -of -Way Dedication No. 4. Approve and authorize recording. Swimming Pool Construction Progress Report. Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to approve the Consent Calendar as submitted. Unanimous vote. MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: Proclamation National Library Week Mayor Gonzales read in full a Proclamation honoring National Library Week, the week of April 13 through April 19, 1980, which was accepted by Library Board Member, Dr. Renald J. Anelle. Proclamation Colton Cavaliers Drill Team & Drum Squad Mayor Gonzales read in full a Proclamation honoring the Colton Cavaliers Drill Team and Drum Squad for their many achievements and the benefits the group provides to the young people of the City of Colton. The Proclamation was accepted by the Captain and other members of the Drill Team. CORRESPONDENCE Senior Citizens Project City Manager Gonzales read a letter from a group of volunteer Senior Citizens, Louise Broussard, Chairman; Art and Vi Crowley; Effie Botts; Mandy Karr; and Esobel Boudreault, who have established a new project to help the elderly fight inflation through purchase of produce at wholesale prices and are seeking the cooperation of the City in this activity. The letter stated that initial contacts had been made with the City Manager and the Director of Recreation and Parks, and the group is now asking for a designated area inside the Hutton Community Center to set up and operate the produce program to better accommodate the elderly customers and protect them from the inclement weather and hot summer months ahead. The group was also requesting a City truck and driver to be furnished once every six weeks to make the trip into the Los Angeles warehouse to pick up the produce. Mayor Gonzales recommended this matter be referred back to Staff to study the possi- bilities of this request. Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to refer this matter back to Staff for study and report at the next regular Council Meeting. Unanimous vote. APR wo
