356 ORDINANCE NO. 1577 - ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON ADOPTING AND ESTABLISHING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS WITH THE CITY OF COLTON, ADOPTING THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1978 EDITION AND THE UNIFORM WIRING CODE, 1975 EDITION, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REDUCING PERSONAL INJURY AND FIRE HAZARD FROM ELECTRICAL CAUSES, PROVIDING FOR RELATED MATTERS AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1479. PERSONNEL - RETIREMENT Social Security Mr. Eugene McMeans addressed the City Council with regards to the items of the agenda dealing with terminating participating in Social Security by City employees and increasing the Public Employees Retirement Benefit program. Mr. McMeans quoted the cost of Social Security benefits in the private sector and requested that the Council consider and keep in mind that the private sector would also like to be able to come under the umbrella of a public or federal retirement program. BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: Poker Parlor Ad Hoc Committee Mr. Wes Hayden, Ad Hoc Committee member, asked the Council if the instructions to the committee had been to look into the feasibility of whether or not poker parlors should. be allowed to conduct business in the City of Colton, as oppossed to whether or not the individuals requesting a franchise are or would be compatible for conducting a poker parlor business in the City of Colton. The Mayor and City Council responded the committee should con- centrate in the area of feasibility and the City Council after hearing a recommendation from the committee will make the decision whether or not an ordinance allowing poker parlors should be adopted and following this; to whom or how many franches will be granted. ADJOURNMENT: Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Temby and unanimously passed, Mayor Gonzales adjourned the meeting at 7:57 p.m. HELEN A.
