356 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1577 - <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON ADOPTING <br />AND ESTABLISHING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR <br />ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS WITH THE CITY OF <br />COLTON, ADOPTING THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, <br />1978 EDITION AND THE UNIFORM WIRING CODE, 1975 <br />EDITION, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REDUCING PERSONAL <br />INJURY AND FIRE HAZARD FROM ELECTRICAL CAUSES, <br />PROVIDING FOR RELATED MATTERS AND REPEALING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1479. <br />PERSONNEL - RETIREMENT <br />Social Security <br />Mr. Eugene McMeans addressed the City Council with regards to the <br />items of the agenda dealing with terminating participating in Social <br />Security by City employees and increasing the Public Employees <br />Retirement Benefit program. Mr. McMeans quoted the cost of Social <br />Security benefits in the private sector and requested that the <br />Council consider and keep in mind that the private sector would also <br />like to be able to come under the umbrella of a public or federal <br />retirement program. <br />BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: <br />Poker Parlor Ad Hoc Committee <br />Mr. Wes Hayden, Ad Hoc Committee member, asked the Council if the <br />instructions to the committee had been to look into the feasibility <br />of whether or not poker parlors should. be allowed to conduct <br />business in the City of Colton, as oppossed to whether or not the <br />individuals requesting a franchise are or would be compatible for <br />conducting a poker parlor business in the City of Colton. <br />The Mayor and City Council responded the committee should con- <br />centrate in the area of feasibility and the City Council after <br />hearing a recommendation from the committee will make the decision <br />whether or not an ordinance allowing poker parlors should be <br />adopted and following this; to whom or how many franches will be <br />granted. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Temby and <br />unanimously passed, Mayor Gonzales adjourned the meeting at 7:57 p.m. <br />HELEN A.
