Mayor Huntoon asked if anyone present desired to speak in favor of or <br />in opposition to this matter. <br />Mr. Richard Henderson, representing Henderson Development Company, <br />presented copies of additional material and aerial photos of the <br />property to the Council Members, stating he was respectfully request- <br />ing approval of this development, as they felt the location was per- <br />fect for their project and it would definitely enhance that area. Mr. <br />Henderson then gave a brief description of the proposed improvements <br />and development. <br />Mayor Huntoon asked how many units they will have. <br />Mr. Henderson answered 336 units will be provided. <br />Mayor Huntoon expressed his concern about Fairway Drive, stating it is <br />a narrow, busy road, and he felt the proposed development would add to <br />the traffic congestion. Mayor Huntoon referred to the accumulative <br />study in progress, and said he felt the City should wait until this <br />study is completed. <br />Mr. Henderson stated they intend to widen Fairway Drive, along the <br />frontage of their development. <br />Mr. Wes Hayden, 279 West Litton Street, Colton, spoke about a trucking <br />company in that same area, and stated he felt the City should take a <br />really good look at this development because of the increase in <br />traffic and congestion. <br />Speaking in favor of the project were the following: <br />Fred Wilkins, property owner on Fairway Drive. <br />Jerald Hollingsworth, owner of Golf Course on Fairway Drive. <br />Cecil Hollingsworth, owner of Golf Course on Fairway Drive. <br />Councilman Rios stated the City has been talking about widening Fair- <br />way Drive for some time, along with other streets in Colton, however, <br />he does not feel it is fair for developers to provide the road improve <br />meets or penalize them, and their projects, because this has not yet <br />been done by the City. <br />Councilwoman Garcia stated she was also concerned about the increase <br />in traffic along Fairway Drive, because it is already congested with <br />a great deal of traffic, and the road is very narrow and curving. <br />After additional discussion, moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded <br />by Councilman Rios, the Public Hearing was terminated. Unanimous vote <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios, to pass <br />First Reading of Ordinance No. 1686, and waive full reading. Upon <br />Roll Call the Vote was: <br />AYES: Three; Rios, Cisneros, Garcia. <br />NOES: One; Huntoon. <br />ABSENT: One; Rehrer. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1686 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON AMENDING <br />(First Reading) ORDINANCE NO. 16029 AS AMENDED, AND PROVIDING <br />FOR CERTAIN ZONE RECLASSIFICATIONS. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios, to ap- <br />prove RESOLUTION NO. 4636.
