O <br />co <br />LD <br />0 <br />co <br />Q <br />s7 <br />Mr. Rich then introduced Mr. Dan Carrasco to the Council and Staff, ad- <br />vising Mr. Carrasco will be taking his place and is the person to get <br />in touch with. <br />parannnal <br />City Manager Elliott requested that the Council consider holding an <br />Adjourned Regular Meeting for the purpose of presenting service pins <br />and perfect attendance certificates to employees with the City. <br />After discussion, on Council consensus, an Adjourned Regular Meeting <br />was scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, 1985, at 3:30 p. m., in the Council <br />Chambers. <br />Budget <br />City Manager Elliott presented to the City Council copies of the Pre- <br />liminary Budget for the 1985-86 Fiscal Year and asked the Council to <br />consider various dates to discuss the Budget. <br />After discussion, tentative dates for the Preliminary Budget Sessions <br />were set for Tuesday, June 11, Thursday, June 13, Tuesday, June 18, <br />and Wednesday, June 19, 1985, at 5:30 p. m., in the Council Chambers. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Ordinance No. 1683 <br />Second Reading <br />City Attorney Edwards introduced Ordinance No. 1683 for Second Reading, <br />)reading it as to number and title only, which relates to Survivors <br />Benefits for safety employees only. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1683 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />(Second Reading) COLTON AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON AND <br />THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE CALIFORNIA <br />PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM. <br />Moved by Councilman Rios, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, to pass <br />Second Reading and adopt Ordinance No. 1683. Unanimous vote. <br />MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: <br />Presentations <br />Mayor Huntoon stated although Michael H. Washington was not present <br />to receive the Certificate of Recognition and Plaque, he felt everyone <br />should be aware of this high school student's bravery. Mayor Huntoon <br />advised that on May 11, 1985, at Newport Beach, California, Michael <br />Washington, at the risk of his own life, saved a girl from drowning and <br />kept her afloat until assisted by lifeguards. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Mr.,Joseph A. Read, 935 North 7th Street, Colton, spoke to the Council <br />Members with regard to events that had taken place on April 18, 1985, <br />wherein his collie guard dog had been apprehended with the use of a <br />tranquilizer, taken to the animal shelter in San Bernardino, and later <br />died that night. Mr. Read stated he felt this was the fault of the <br />officers involved and he felt compensation was due him. Mr. Read asked <br />t that the City pay for the dog's burial and tombstone. <br />Mrs. Kathryn Davis, Riverside, Mr. Read's grandmother, also spoke to <br />the Council Members on this matter. <br />City Attorney Edwards advised that Mr. Read had filed a Claim with the <br />City Clerk's Office, which was being processed and turned over to the <br />City's Insurance Administrators.for investigation. <br />Informal Dress <br />JUN 4 1005 <br />
