68D <br />Mr. Connolly reported Page 2400 Office Equipment, reflects replacement <br />furniture for the Chief's office. <br />Chief Connolly reported on Page 242, staff is recommending two art - <br />time Animal License Checkers for a 6 -month period to canvass a neigh - <br />algal <br />borhoods door to door to help insure that all dogs in the City are <br />licensed. Chief Connolly stated this would produce revenue for the <br />City. <br />Chief Connolly reported on the purchase of a file cabinet and office <br />chairs on Page 260, for the Patrol Division. <br />Chief Connolly reported that the Fair Labor Standards act, might in <br />the future, affect the payment for Police Reserve Officer services. <br />Chief Connolly stated that in the future, rather than pay the Police <br />Reservist, it might be to the City's best interest to provide them <br />with all their needed equipment. Chief Connolly stated he would con- <br />tinue to study this and will keep the Council informed. <br />Chief Connolly reported on Page 287, saying the equipment.willrovide <br />Data Processing capabilities for the Detective Division. In p <br />addition, Chief Connolly stated, the division is operating out of very <br />cramped offices and he is currently looking into costs and the <br />possibility of relocating this division across the street, adjacent to <br />the Building & Planning Civic Center Annex. Chief Connolly said he <br />would bring back the cost figures for Council's consideration. <br />Chief Connolly said Pages 322 and 323 cover office equipment needed as <br />a result of remodeling the police department and expanding the Com- <br />munications Center to the basement. <br />Pages 325 and 326 reflect miscellaneous equipment required by the <br />Services Division, reported Chief Connolly. <br />Fire <br />Chief Gemmell addressed the Council saying, Page 362 reflects his <br />recommendation to upgrade one of the Fire Specialist to a Captain, or <br />one range higher. Chief Gemmell stated this is based on the fact that <br />the individual is deadlocked, not being able to pursue promotions from <br />that position. <br />Chief Gemmell stated Page 363, reflects a request for a part-time <br />Clerk Typist due to increased office procedures. <br />Chief Gemmell reported on the equipment requested on Page 383. <br />Chief Gemmell briefly outlined plans for a future fire station to be <br />located in the Meadow Lane and Washington Street area. Chief Gemmell <br />stated the property is being donated by Robertson Homes and will not <br />require additional staff at time time. <br />Chief Gemmell reported on Page 384, Auto Equipment, he is recommeding <br />that the water tender at Station #3 be rebuilt. Chief Gemmell said it <br />is his intention to use the old fire equipment for training purposes, <br />allowing personnel to leave the equipment as is, when they receive a <br />call out. <br />Chief Gemmell said Pages 389-390 outlined the Civil Defense Budget <br />Chief Gemmell reported the State pays for one person to implement <br />this program. Staff is requesting the purchase of a 4 -wheel drive <br />vehicle for this division. <br />Council Members were informed that staff would return with cost <br />figures on the purchase of a 4 -wheel drive vehicle. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />Mayor Huntoon declared the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m., to meet <br />for an Adjourned Regular Meeting on -Tuesday, June 18, 1985, at <br />5:30 p.m. <br />JUN 13 1985 <br />
