Mrs. Andengaard reported Page 131, Telephone System.,'shows the purchase of off premise telephone, that are currently being leased. Mrs. Andengaard and Mr. Young presented the Miscellaneous Equipment request for Data Processing, shown on Page 150. Staff is desirous of of effecting cost savings in labor and downtime of the computer for programming, by the purchase of this advance equipment. City Attorney City Attorney Edwards reported his budget is about the same as last years, with the exception of an increase in Travel b Meetings, Page 171, of $500.00. Citv Treasurer Acting Finance Director Andengaard reported there are no changes in the City Treasure'r's budget, however, there is a reduction in the Office Equipment request on Page 184. Mrs. Andengaard stated the City Treasurer was able to secure a price of $535.00 for the needed equipment. RECESS: Council recessed for ten minutes. Planning Planning Director Aguilera reported he would like to highlight three accounts. Mr. Aguilera stated the first is on Page 186, Building and Planning Personnel. Mr. Aguilera stated that at the present time, when the City is experiencing much growth, the department is operati with less people than it had three years ago. Mr. Aguilera pointed out that the Department is one that pays for itself, by the fees it collects in processing project applications. Mr. Aguilera stated the second account is that of Community Develop- ment. Mr. Aguilera reported the City will receive $50,000; of that, $5,000 is for administration costs to oversee the update of the General Plan. Mr. Aguilera stated the total cost of the General Plan update is $63,500, with $45,000 coming from the balance of the Com- munity Development money, and another $17,500 will be needed to make the $63,500. Mr. Aguilera said the $17,500 is reflected in Account 35, Professional Services on Page 225. Planning Director Aguilera stated on Page 206, Account 91, the depart- ment has requested a 4 -wheel drive vehicle to due necessary inspections in hilly and sandy -loomed areas. City Manager Elliott stated the department has just acquired a pickup from the Electric Department. Mr. Aguilera stated the pickup, a 1972 which was being replaced by the Electric Department, was intended for interim use only. City Manager Elliott said he would look into this and get it taken r° care of. Police Acting Chief Connolly stated the Temporary Salaries, on Page 230, reflects $2,000 for a temporary typist during the time, the permanent Secretary is on maternity leave. City Manager Elliott stated that if the permanent employee was out of benefits, the City would realize a savings in salaries and this would be looked into. Mr. Connolly reported Page 240, Office Equipment, reflects replacement furniture for the Chief's Office.. JUN 13 1985
