CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Ordinance No. 1679 Second Reading City Attorney Edwards introduced Ordinance No. 1679 for Second Read- ing, reading it as to number and title only: rORDINANCE NO. 1679 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON AMENDING (Second Reading) ORDINANCE NO. 16029 AS AMENDED, AND PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN ZONE RECLASSIFICATIONS. Moved by Councilman Rios, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to pass Second Reading and adopt Ordinance No. 1679. Unanimous vote. Fl arti nna O City Attorney Edwards advised that at a previous Council Meeting the ❑ Council Members were apprised, by memorandum from the City Clerk, of the option. of consolidating with the County for our next General Muni- cipal Election, or continue as in the past, having the City Clerk con- duct the 1986 Election. Q Mr. Edwards stated the City Council could, if they wish, make a deci- sion now, or decide at a later date as to what they want to do on this matter. Councilman Rios stated because there is a cost savings involved, he would be in favor of consolidating with the County. Councilwoman Garcia and Councilman Rehrer felt they would like to see the Elections remain in the City of Colton, and conduct our own Elec- tions. Mayor Huntoon and Councilwoman Cisneros stated they also favored con- solidating with the County due to the cost savings and possible better turnout for the elections. Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios, to con- solidate with the County of San Bernardino for the 1986 General Muni- cipal Election. Upon Roll Call, the Vote was: AYES: Three; Rios, Cisneros, Huntoon. NOES: Two; Rehrer, Garcia. ABSENT: None. Motion carried. Ordinance No. 1680 Civil Service System City Attorney Edwards introduced Ordinance No. 1680 for First Reading, advising that this ordinance amends Ordinance No. 1122 and Section 2.48.050 of the Colton Municipal Code relating to the Civil Service System and places ten positions under the Civil Service System, which are presently exempt positions. Mr. Edwards then read Ordinance No. 1680 in full. Moved by Councilman Rios, seconded by Councilwoman Garcia, to pass First Reading and waive further reading of Ordinance No. 1680. Vote was unanimous.
