<br />of the sewer line under the Santa Ana River that was damaged during a
<br />storm and awarded the engineering and management of this project to
<br />Krieger & Stewart, the City's wastewater engineers. This project was
<br />sent out to bid, and a low bid was received from Paul Hubbs Construc-
<br />tion for a total project cost of $908,400, which would not include any
<br />protection of the La Cadena bridge.
<br />Mr. Elliott continued a new proposal was presented which would not
<br />only replace the sewer line but also provide for protection of the
<br />La Cadena bridge at a cost of $1,144,600, including a contribution of
<br />$150,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
<br />Mr. Elliott concluded Staff would recommend that Krieger.& Stewart be
<br />retained as engineers and managers of this project, and the construc-
<br />t:,o,n phase, be awarded, :to Paul RubUs,, Cons,t.ruction Campa�y, for a cost
<br />of $i,144,600.
<br />Mr. Robert A. Krieger, representing Krieger & Stewart, also made a
<br />presentation to the Council Members with regard to the sewer line at
<br />the Santa Ana River crossing, outlining several alternatives avail-
<br />able to the City for construction of the sewer line. Mr. Krieger said
<br />the construction could be started as early as October, 1985, if the
<br />O Corps of Engineers issues a Section 404 permit.for the construction.
<br />Mr. Krieger also informed the Council Members on development of miti-
<br />Lo gation measures to meet conditions which the U. S. Fish and Wildlife
<br />Service wishes to impose. Mr. Krieger concluded he would also recom-
<br />n mend approval of Staff's recommendation.

<br />man Rios, to approve Staff's recommendation with regard to Grand Ter-
<br />race Interceptor/Santa Ana River Crossing Sewer Construction. Vote
<br />was unanimous.
