MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: Proclamations Mayor Huntoon read in full a Proclamation declaring Tuesday, Septem- ber 17, 1985, as'INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE. Upon completion of signatures, the Proclamation will be accepted by Mr. Treavor Rush, of Bahai's Colton Community Church. Beautification Committee Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Rios, ratifying ap- pointments made by Mayor Huntoon of 12 members to the Beautification Committee. Unanimous vote. CORRESPONDENCE: Mayor Huntoon referred to a letter from David R. Philbrick, President of the Golden State Mobilehome Owners League Chapter 936, regarding proposed rent stabilization and control. Mr. Philbrick addressed the Council Members stating he is a resident of the Lake Cadena Mobile Home Park, advising that in the last year the residents of that Park have experienced an increase in their rent amounting to almost $100. Mr. Philbrick referred to the proposed ordinance, that had been forwarded to the City Council, which will provide stabilization of rents for dwelling units and mobile home park spaces, requesting that the City Council study the ordinance and give it every consideration for approval. Mr. Philbrick said their organi- zation has worked very hard and spent a great deal of time and money on this project. Mr. Philbrick advised the City of Colton is the only city, of all the surrounding cities, that has not adopted some form of rent control, and the residents at Lake Cadena are not getting what they are paying for. Mayor Huntoon asked if the Council Members had any questions or com- ments to make. Mayor Huntoon thanked Mr. Philbrick for his presents- tion. SEP 17 Ws
