giCity Clerk Ramos stated the operational Portion of her budget- remains <br />much the same as the prior year. Mrs. Ramos reported Account 1-1101- <br />41, Miscellaneous Expense, on Page 20 reflects the cost of both the <br />1986 General Municipal Election for City Council Offices and the very <br />likely addition of the Rent Control Initiative. <br />Mrs. Ramos reviewed the requests in Account 1-1101-90, Office Equip- <br />ment, on Page 22, for an additional CRT and accessories. Mrs. Ramos <br />said the requests under Account 1-1101-93, Miscellaneous Equipment, on <br />Page 23, are to replace an old typewriter chair and purchase a small <br />work table needed in the microfilming room. <br />CITY MANAGER: <br />City Manager Edwards stated this budget is very similar to the prior <br />year. The costs for the new City Manager, which are not included in <br />the preliminary budget are reflected in the material on Budget Adjust- <br />ments. <br />Mr. Edwards said this budget reflects the CRT mentioned earlier, along <br />with accessories. <br />O Mr. Edwards said the Community Promotion Account 1-1802-40, is for <br />Council Member Garcia stated she is all for the Centennial activities, <br />however, she would like the Committee to submit an official written <br />request outlining how the money is to be utilized. <br />PERSONNEL: <br />Personnel Director Madsen addressed the Council stating that she is <br />requesting a full time permanent position, of Intermediate Typist <br />Clerk. Mrs. Madsen said the part time person will be leaving this <br />summer to start a full time position with the School District. Mrs. <br />Madsen said the department has struggled along with a part time person <br />and really needs someone full time. <br />Director Madsen said Account 1-1203-04, on Page 48, reflects the cost <br />for the Student Intern Program. Mrs. Madsen said last year the <br />program enabled the City to acquire a Medical Standards study for all <br />City Classif icati'ons . <br />Council Member Garcia asked why Page 57, reflected Liebert, Cassidy <br />and Frierson Attorneys -At -Law, to represent the City during the 1987 <br />MOU negotiations with associations and labor unions. Councilwoman <br />Garcia stated she had not been happy with their performance this year, <br />and is not convinced they should be rehired. <br />City Manager Edwards stated Mr. Benest had indicated that he will be <br />looking at a smaller, local firm to do this work. Mr. Edwards said <br />the City does not have a contract with Liebert, Cassidy and Frierson, <br />therefore, the City is not obligated to them in anyway. <br />Councilwoman Garcia asked that the name of the firm be deleted from <br />the budget. <br />FINANCE: <br />Acting Director Andengaard reported the Administration portion of the <br />Finance Budget remains the same. <br />Auditing & Accounting - Mrs. Andengaard stated this remains the same. <br />J UN 9 1986 <br />the Chamber of <br />Commerce and it <br />is his understanding that the <br />Chamber <br />LD <br />would like to <br />address the City <br />Council with regard to additional <br />funding. <br />0 <br />co <br />Council Member <br />Rehrer said he <br />would like to have included in <br />the <br />Q <br />budget $25,000 <br />for the Centennial <br />Celebration. Member Rehrer <br />said <br />the Centennial <br />Committee needs <br />some seed money.
