Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios, to approve the Consent Calendar, with deletion of Item No. 12. Unanimous vote. MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: Committees 0 Mayor Huntoon referred to his memorandum regarding appointments to the Centennial Committee, advising that ten more names have been submitted to add to the list of Committee members. Mayor Huntoon stated this is (� an ad hoc committee for the purpose of the Centennial only, and that Steve Edwards will be the liaison to the Committee. Q Resolutions Mayor Huntoon read in full a Resolution of Recognition welcoming visitors from Rainham, Essex County, England. The Resolution,was accepted by one of the visitors, who gave Mayor Huntoon a letter from the Mayor of the London Borough of Havering, which Mayor Huntoon read to all. PUBLIC HEARINGS: Weed Abatement Res. No. R-43-86 Mayor Huntoon declared the Public Hearing open. City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Posting and reported that no protests or objections had been received. Acting Director of Community Services John Hutton reported that all notices have been mailed- to the respective property owners with regard to the 1986 Weed Abatement Program in accordance with the Weed Abate- ment Law. Mr. Hutton stated if there are insufficient protests or objections at the conclusion of the hearing, Staff would recommend adoption of Reso- lution No. R-43-86. Mayor Huntoon asked if anyone present desired to speak on this matter. Mr. Frank Smith, 270 West F Street, complained about the job that last year's contractor did, and stated he hoped they would do a better job this year. Mr. Wilford Sklar, 5904 Copperfield Avenue, Riverside, spoke on behalf of clients owning property on Pepper Street, stating more timely notice should be given in order to abate the property within the time period. Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, the Public Hearing was terminated. Unanimous vote.
