Mr. Sotelo said Staff recommends the proposed 1990-91 Budget be adopted <br />at the meeting scheduled for September 4, 1990. <br />Mr. Sotelo introduced the Budget Team who primarily worked on the Budget: <br />William Parrot, Jerry Young and William Miller. <br />Councilman Rehrer stated 4 or 5 positions were approved for the Fire <br />Department last year but were not filled, and he would like those posi- <br />tions filled. <br />Mr. Sotelo responded an evaluation of the positions would be made and he <br />would make an appropriate recommendation. <br />The City Council took a 10 minute recess. <br />Mayor Gonzales complimented Staff for a job well done on presenting a <br />balanced Budget.Mayor Gonzales stated unfortunately, at this time, <br />there are no monies available for new programs or positions; however, <br />should additional revenue become available, reconsideration can be <br />given at mid -year. <br />Moved by Mayor Gonzales, seconded by Councilman Lofy, accepting Staffs <br />recommendation to adopt the proposed Budget at the September 4, 1990 <br />Council Meeting. Unanimous vote. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Mr. George Fulp, 1495 Cindee Lane, inquired as to the budget approach <br />taken by Staff and as to the term "selective'-hiringll- <br />City Manager Sotelo responded the Budget was prepared using a combina- <br />tion of historical revenue and projected revenue, and historical expen- <br />ditures with inflation factors. Mr. Sotelo stated with regard to selec- <br />tive hiring, the City currently has several vacancies, and it is his <br />intention to review each position as to actual and urgent need before <br />filling the vacancy. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />Moved by Mayor Gonzales, seconded by Councilman Rehrer and unanimously <br />passed, the Meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p. m., to Thursday, August 30, <br />1990, at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall. <br />HELEN A.
