Apft <br />Moved by Councilman Rios, seconded by Councilman Lofy, to approve the <br />Consent Calendar. Unanimous vote. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />Proclamations <br />Mayor Gonzales read in full a Proclamation declaring the week of <br />March 4 through 10, 1990, as ARBOR WEER. <br />The Proclamation was accepted by Mr. Dave Driscoll, Unit Chief of the <br />State Urban Forestry Department, who commended the City of Colton for <br />their continuing interest and preservation of trees throughout Colton. <br />Mr. Driscoll said he was happy to give the City of Colton a check in the <br />amount of $38,588, representing Urban Forestry Grant monies, advising <br />that the City of Colton is the first city to receive such funds. <br />The City was presented with stoney pine saplings for planting. <br />Mayor Gonzales read in full a Proclamation declaring the month of March, <br />1990, as NATIONAL WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH. <br />Resolutions <br />Mayor Gonzales read in full a Resolution of Appreciation for Jerry Harris, <br />who served the City of Colton as a Reserve Police Officer for forty- <br />seven years. The Resolution was accepted by Mr. Harris. <br />Paramedics <br />Fire Chief Ron Gemmell showed all those present a Plaque received from <br />Crafton Hills College regarding the City's training and participation <br />in the Paramedic Program. <br />Boards & Commissions <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Rios, ratifying ap- <br />pointment of Don Hines to the Historic & Scenic Preservation Commission. <br />Unanimous vote. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Economic Development Director Jennifer Thornberry reported on the color <br />selections of exterior paint for the Civic Center, the funds for which <br />were budgeted in the current fiscal year budget. <br />Mrs. Thornberry advised Staff from the Public Works Department, City <br />Manager's Office, and Redevelopment Agency, met with Mr. Armantrout to <br />discuss various issues for his consideration prior to his making recom- <br />mendations. Some of these issues were - use of low maintenance colors; <br />colors that would blend with the new senior citizen housing complex; <br />exterior colors that would compliment the interior colors of the Civic <br />Center. <br />3 <br />IM -0 � 9 199 <br />
