eral Plan Amendment, Index No. G-1-90, on vacant land located at <br />the northeast corner of San Bernardino and Meridian Avenues. <br />Mr. Aguilera stated the applicant intends to construct homes con- <br />taining 1,500 to 2,000 square feet that will range in price from <br />$140,000 to $200,000. The lots will not exceed 7,200 square feet. <br />Mr. Aguilera then outlined the surrounding uses and zoning, stating <br />the zone change request will be consistent with surrounding and <br />proposed land uses, the change will not have a negative effect on <br />the environment, and the property values will be better preserved <br />by the proposed change of zone. <br />Mr. Aguilera concluded based on the analysis and findings, Staff <br />recommends approval of the zone change request and First Reading <br />of Ordinance No. 0-6-90. <br />Mayor Gonzales asked if anyone present desired to speak on this <br />matter. <br />Mr. John Reichel, 3 Upper Newport Plaza, Newport Beach, spoke to <br />the Council Members regarding the proposed zone change, the pro- <br />posed development and improvements, and stated he would be happy <br />to answer any questions the Council may have. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios, to <br />close the Public Hearing.
