Development Zones which are similar to Enterprise Zones except that the Recycling Market Development Zones seek to attract and retain recycling industries. California Integrated Waste Management Board has opened the application process for designation of eight Recycling Market Development Zones. The Agua Mansa Enterprise Zone Marketing Committee is preparing an application for zone designation on behalf of the Agua Mansa Industrial Growth Association ("AMIGA".) The County of Riverside is serving as the lead agency in the application process. Upon designation, the State provides technical assistance related to zone administration and shares leads and provides up to five million dollars per year in low interest loans to recycling businesses. Mr. Zamora concluded these incentives, along with Enterprise Zone incentives, will provide new economic vitality to our communities and strengthen the local markets for recyclable materials as well as complement future development of Materials Recovery Facilities.
