MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS:
Video-taping Council Meetings
City Manager Lewis introduced Economic/Redevelopment Assistant
Parrish who reported he had contacted Cablevision who is reviewing
a copy of the franchise. Preliminarily, it has been determined
that Cablevision does not have to provide the City with equipment
or manpower but they can televise the City Council meetings. There
are several options available: (1) Televise meetings live on
cable; (2) Tape meetings, review and delay broadcast and (3) Tape
meetings, edit and present highlights of meetings. Staff
recommended selection by City Council of the taping format and
suggested proceeding with the most cost-effective alternative.
Councilman Roman stated he understood that equipment was available
under franchise or that the money was set aside to purchase
equipment. Mr. Parrish reported that $89000.00 is available.
After discussion on the preferred method of televising the City
Council meetings, motion by Councilman Roman, seconded by Mayor
Gonzales, to purchase the necessary equipment for live telecast
proceeded upon roll call vote: Councilmember Roman and Mayor
Gonzales voting AYE. Councilmembers Cisneros, Rehrer and Lofy
voting NO. Motion did not carry.
Motion by Councilmember Lofy, seconded by Councilmember Cisneros,
to purchase equipment necessary to tape the City Council meetings,
said tapes to be kept and used for reference only. Unanimous vote.
JOINT MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING:
Appeal - DC -73-91
Mayor Gonzales announced that this hearing is continued to the City
Council meeting of March 17, 1992 as the matter was not duly
noticed.
CFD 88-1
Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open.
City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Publication and
reported no written protests or objections were received.
MAR 3 1992
