MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: COMMENTS, INTER -GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY <br />REPORTS, INFORMATION SESSION AND ACTION ITEMS: <br />City Manager Parrish presented information as to the ongoing projects and activities for the City <br />of Colton. <br />✓ 10"' & G Street — City Engineer Jakher provided a PowerPoint presentation on the <br />beautification project. <br />CM Yzaguirre acknowledged and commended staff on this beautification project as it promotes <br />health, safety and quality of life for the citizens. <br />CM De La Rosa requested clarification on requirements for traffic signals when no traffic study <br />is done. City Engineer Jakher explained that Council could approve because it is a safety issue <br />and it doesn't warrant analysis, it is determined by the history and potential future problems. <br />✓ Brown Water Issue — Water/Wastewater Director Fraser provided an update on the <br />pipeline improvements, such as the 8t' Street improvements. He showed a sample of a <br />good pipe and explained how flushing removes sediment, sediment is natural occurring <br />iron. He reported on continued pipeline replacement, increase flushing frequency, and <br />evaluation of alternative sources for supply and treatments centers. <br />CM Mitchell asked how many times has flushing been done throughout the City, are we ahead <br />of schedule and when there is an outage who can be contacted when offices are closed. <br />Water/Wastewater Director Fraser explained that the flushing had been done three times since <br />his employment and flushing still has a way to go but they are reaching isolated areas, he <br />further explained that a 24 hour response person was available at 370-6131. <br />✓ Bridge Committee Meeting — August 29, 2007 Gonzales Center Room 2. <br />Mayor Chastain reported that she had met with the school superintendent, and Mayor Pro <br />Tempore Suchil and CM De La Rosa would be attending the meeting. <br />City Manager Parrish announced the meeting would be discussing eight items on the agenda a <br />draft would be provided for the council regarding interactions and relationships between the City <br />and the School District. <br />Mayor Pro Tempore Suchil suggested that traffic safety and signalization should be added to <br />the agenda. <br />Mayor and Council Comments <br />• Acknowledged City Engineer Jakher <br />Fairway/Sperry Stop signs installed <br />• Chamber of Commerce Survey <br />• Park Days Outreach <br />• Flay area field trip <br />• Code Enforcement Update <br />2007 AUG 21 REG CC/RDA/CUA MEETING - 5 - <br />
