Ray Abril, Jr., spoke against 3 fields. <br />Jessica Arrieta, spoke in support of the project. <br />Catherine Barragan, spoke in support of the project. <br />Mayor Chastain asked Bill Smith, Parks and Recreation Director, to respond on what community <br />outreach had been done on this project. <br />Director Smith explained that three public meetings had been held recently in April with notices <br />sent to residents living within '/ mile of the park; this layout was made at the April 2nd meeting, <br />Mr. Abril was in attendance of that meeting. <br />Discussion continued with Council expressing the need to embrace all concepts and concerns <br />addressed. <br />Motion/second CM Toro/Mayor Pro Tempore Suchil to go with the proposed park and move <br />forward with the project. Motion carried with CM Oliva voting NO. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />None <br />APPEAL —WATTS INVESTMENTS <br />This was the Time And Place Fixed To Consider The Colton Planning Commission's Denial Of <br />A Request For Design Review, TPM #18647, Major Variance (Freeway Sign Height), Minor <br />Variance (Wall Height), Sign Application, And Environmental Assessment For The Proposed <br />Construction Of An Equipment Sales, Rentals, Painting And Repairs Facility; A Conditional Use <br />Permit For The Sale Of Diesel, Gasoline And Propane Related To Equipment Rentals; And A <br />Conditional Use Permit For A Freeway Oriented Sign, All For File Index No. Dap -000-689, For <br />Property Located At the Northeast Corner Of Main Street And Iowa Avenue <br />Mayor Chastain declared the public hearing open. <br />City Clerk Padilla announced that the Affidavit of Publication for the public hearing was on file in <br />the City Clerk's office and no protests or objections have been received. <br />Community Development Director Zamora presented the agenda report and requested approval <br />of staffs recommendation to deny the applicant's appeal and uphold the Planning Commission's <br />denial of a Design Review <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Aaron Hodgen, representing the applicant Watts Investments that the owner is also present in <br />the audience; spoke in support of the project. <br />Discussion continued with Mayor Pro Tempore Suchil asking questions on the project, regarding <br />tax revenues, employment, and signalization and zoning compliance. <br />2007 JUN 19 REG CC/RDA/CUA MEETING - 7 - <br />
