Director Smith spoke on the following: <br />Expectations — of a regional park in Colton in past seven years <br />• What was contemplated? <br />• What is the history? <br />• Number of challenges? <br />• Number of possibilities? <br />Point where everyone at the same position, with a clear understanding of this project of what it <br />is, what it isn't and what it can be <br />Original Project — Early 1990 County contemplated a Park on a landfill site in Pellisier Ranch <br />• Agua Mansa Regional Park Master Plan — 96 pages <br />Current Project Site known as Original Project Scope <br />• Late 2001 /Early 2002 — Project proposed on 225+ acres, north and south of the Santa Ana <br />River, on either side of La Cadena Ave. <br />• "Design of the proposed facility will be master planned for minimally active recreation a <br />predominately native landscaping." (Wording directly taken from County website) <br />Regional Park Concept — 2002 The county developed a concept drawing that describe the Regional <br />Park that extended north of Congress street with a golf driving range, and parking at west side of <br />Fogg Street where tow yard has expanded. <br />Regional Park Concept — 2003 <br />River Parkway Funding Application <br />Original Project Timeline <br />• February 2005 — Master Plan acceptance by County Board of Supervisors <br />• Remainder of 2005 — Design process <br />• January 2006 — Design process <br />• Property acquisition to occur throughout the process <br />• Timeline per County documentation <br />County Park "Master Plan" <br />Project Responsibilities <br />• County, in conjunction with the Wildlands Conservancy, to lead in all property acquisition and <br />master planning, including environmental review <br />• City to lead on development of 25 acres of "multiuse fields" once property is acquired. <br />Colton Regional Park Committee <br />• Established by City council — August, 2005 — primary responsibility of Committee is to assist <br />in the design of the facility to meet the needs of Colton residents, and ensure that Colton has <br />a voice in development <br />2007 DEC 05 SPC JT CC/RDA/CUA/ PLN/R&P MEETING- 2 - <br />
