ORDINANCE NO. Z16' _ An Ordinance granting to the Southern California Gas Company, a corporation, a franchise to lay and construct, and for a period of fifty (50) years to maintain a system of gas pipes and pipe lines under and along the streets and thoroughfares in the City of Colton. The City Council of the City of Colton do ordain as follows: SECTION I. The right, privilege and franchise is hereby granted to the Southern California Gas Company, a corporation, to lay and con- struct, and for a period of fifty (50) years to maintain a system of gas pipes and pipe lines under and along the streets and thorough- fares in the City of Colton. TOGETHER with the right, during said period, to furnish and distribute gas through said pipes and pipe lines to all the ter- ritory adjacent to said pipe lines, for light, heat and power, and to collect rents, tolls and charges for the gas so furnished. SECTION II. Such franchise is hereby granted upon and subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter contained and the grantee of said fran- chise, or assigns, shall file a written acceptance of said terms and conditions with the City Clerk of the City of Colton, within thirty days after the passage of this Ordinance. SECTION III. That the manner of constructing all such pipes, and other appli- ances connected therewith, to be placed under, on or along such streets and thoroughfares, shall be at all times subject to the approval of the City Council, or other legislative body of said City; and all obstructions placed in said streets and thoroughfares, under this franchise, shall be removed, and. all dangerous and defect- ive constructions shall be reconstructed or repaired whenever the
