<br />of the said County, being duly sworn, deposes
<br />and says:
<br />THAT .-£;.-.he is and at all the times herein
<br />mentioned was a citizen of the United States, over
<br />the age of twenty-one years, and that -___..he
<br />is not a party to, nor interested in the above
<br />entitled matter; that --.he is the principal clerk
<br />of the printer of the Colton Courier, a newspaper
<br />of general circulation, printed and published in
<br />the City of Colton, State of California, County of
<br />San Bernardino, and which newspaper is published
<br />for the dissemination of local news and intelli-
<br />gence of a general character, and which newspaper
<br />at all the times herein mentioned had and still
<br />has a bono fide subscription list of paying sub-
<br />scribers, end which newspaper has been estab-
<br />lished, printed and published at regular intervals
<br />in the said City of Colton, State of California,
<br />County of San Bernardino, for a period exceeding
<br />one year next preceding the date of publication of
<br />the notice hereinafter referred to; and which news-
<br />paper is not devoted to nor published for the in-
<br />terests, enterlalnment or instruction of a particular
<br />class, profession, trade, calling, race, or denomin-
<br />ation, or any number of some; that the notice, of
<br />which the annexed is a printed copy, has been
<br />published in each regular and entire issue of said
<br />newspaper and not in any supplement thereof on
<br />the following dates, to -wit:

<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1446
<br />AN ORDINANCE OF- THE CITY
<br />�jF COLTON'STATE OF
<br />CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO THE
<br />SALE OF MOTOR VEHICLE
<br />FUELS
<br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
<br />CITY OF COLTON, DOES ORDAIN
<br />AS FOLLOWS:
<br />SECTION 1 Sign Required:
<br />Every person, firm, co
<br />partnership, association, or
<br />corporation offering for sale or
<br />selling any gasoline or other motor
<br />vehicle fuel to the public from any
<br />Place of business in the City of
<br />Colton shall post or display a sign,
<br />clearly visible to approaching
<br />vehicular traffic from any and all
<br />streets or highways adjacent to such
<br />Place of business, which indicates
<br />the actual price per gallon, including
<br />all taxes, at which the grade or
<br />grades of gasoline or other motor
<br />vehicle fuel is currently being
<br />offered for sale or sold on said place
<br />of business.
<br />SECTION 2. Availability of Fuel:
<br />No person, firm, copartnership,
<br />association, or corporation shall
<br />advertise, either in connection with
<br />the sign required by Section 1.
<br />hereof or otherwise any grade of
<br />gasoline or other motor fuel which is
<br />not immediately available for sale to
<br />the public at said place of business.
<br />SECTION 3. Limitations on Sale:
<br />In the event there shall be a
<br />limitation upon the amount of
<br />gasoline or other motor vehicle fuel
<br />sold, either by way of quantity or
<br />cost, such limitations shall also be
<br />posted or displayed with and as a
<br />part of the sign mentioned in Section
<br />L
<br />SECTION 4. Letters and Figures:
<br />All letters, figures, and numerals
<br />used in connection with the sign
<br />mentioned herein shall beof uniform
<br />sae and at least six inches in height
<br />port ions of sad Ordinance. The City
<br />Council of the City of Colton hereby
<br />declares that it would have passed
<br />said Ordinance and each section.

<br />fact that any one or more sections,
<br />subsections, sentence, clauses or
<br />phrases be declared invalid or
<br />unconstitutional.
<br />SECTION 8. Urgency Ordinance:
<br />This ordinance is hereby declared
<br />an urgency measure necessary for
<br />the immediate protection and
<br />preservation of the public peace,
<br />health, safety and welfare, of the
<br />people of the City of Colton in that
<br />the limitation of supply of gasoline
<br />bnd other rnotor vehicle fuels
<br />heretofore available has resulted in
<br />widely divergent and fluctuating
<br />prices among gasoline and motor
<br />vehicle fuel service stations and
<br />even fluctuating prices thereat on a
<br />day to day basis. The public making
<br />purchases of said fuel has been left
<br />without the ability to readily
<br />determine the price and -or quantity
<br />available, resulting in a disruption
<br />of orderly business practices. Such
<br />disruption has caused or the City
<br />Council finds there is a reasonable
<br />likelihood the same will cause
<br />threats of violence or violence at
<br />said places of business, and
<br />accordingly, in order to assure the
<br />health, safety, and welfare of the
<br />public purchasing said fuel and also
<br />the personnel who dispense the
<br />same, the City Council does ordain
<br />that this Ordinance shall take effect
<br />immediately upon its adoption and
<br />shall be effective for six months
<br />from its effective date.
